When you arrive at Taiwan by flight, Taoyuan may likely be the first place you will set foot on. This is because Taiwan’s largest airport and by far the busiest among all airports is located in the Taoyuan International Airport (formerly known as Chiang Kai-Shek International Airport).

Taoyuan comprises two Chinese characters – 桃 (peach) and 園 (garden). Thus, Taoyuan means “garden of peach” since the area used to have many peach blossoms. Taoyuan county is the fourth largest metropolitan area that has many tech company headquarters and industrial parks. Taoyuan county is commonly confused with Taoyuan city, the largest of five cities in Taoyuan county.

Taoyuan county offers a wide variety of attractions, from cultural to historial, and from amusement parks to a bustling city life. The following are my three favourite places to visit in Taoyuan county.

Attractions
If you have watched some Taiwanese dramas, such as Green Light Forest, My Secret Garden 2 or Wedding Dress of Heaven, you may have seen the Daxi Flower Ocean Farm Ranch. Since it’s a popular film shoot location, it is also referred to as ‘The sacred place of TV idol dramas’.

The miniature area, also called Mini World, is divided into five sub-areas: Mini Taiwan, Mini China, Mini Asia, Mini Europe, and Mini America. Apart from that, there is also amusement park and water park, as well as shows such as Taiwanese Folk Art Theater.

Cihu Mausoleum known as Mausoleum of Late President Lord Chiang, is the resting place of President Chiang Kai-Shek and is located in Daxi Township. Two guards from the armed forces stand at the entrance and it is customary to bow respectfully. Although photography inside the mausoleum is prohibited, however, visitors may take photographs outside.
