NEW DELHI– Indian Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor’s wife Sunanda Pushkar has been found dead in Room 345 of Leela hotel in Chanakyapuri neighbourhood in New Delhi.

Pushkar and Tharoor were recently involved in a Twitter controversy where she had allegedly “exposed” Tharoor’s affair to his twitter followers. Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar was blamed for “interfering” in the couple’s marriage in a press statement. Pushkar also alleged that Tarar was an IsI agent following which Tarar spoke to the media denying the allegation.

The reason behind her death is still unclear. Investigations are currently being done at the site. Police believe it could be a case of suicide.

 

UPDATE:

* Tharoor informed police of Sunanda’s death.

* Sunanda Pushkar’s death was reported at 8:30 PM IST by Shashi Tharoor.

* Shashi Tharoor and Sunanda Pushkar had checked in to The Leela, Chanyakyapuri yesterday morning (IST) as a result of ongoing painting work in their house.

* Sunanda was last seen alive at 3:30 PM IST at the hotel lobby. Following this, the housekeeping staff knocked at 7:30 PM IST and received no response. On opening the door, they discovered Pushkar dead on the bed.
