Do you like partying til dawn? Or maybe your biggest desire is a perfect beach atmosphere? Interested? Then you must experience the vibe of Playa del Carmen! Situated in the south-west coast of Mexico Playa del Carmen is also a part of the state of Quintana Roo. The city is known as a small charming fishing area. It is also one of the most popular dive destinations in the world. Since 1990, when Playa was made known as the fastest growing city in Mexico, it has become one of the most attractive and cosmopolitan beach-resorts in Latin America. The area is also popular among celebrities from all over the world; therefore you may expect to meet some of your idols.

We’d recommend you spend all the evenings of your vacation at the 5th avenue. In this area, you will discover local boutiques, souvenir shops, fancy restaurants, bars and a crazy nightlife, including one of the biggest nightclubs in Latin America Coco Bongo. And this is just a little piece of what is waiting for you. It is often described as “the party avenue” and it is perfect for young people. What is more important for guys, the 5th avenue is extremely 5_Avenue_Nightfamous for having the most beautiful women in the world.

The atmosphere in the city is incredible. You are more than likely to meet many foreigners. There are a lot of people from the US. You experience a marvellous multiculturalism, a lot of influence comes from Europe, the US and all Latin America, especially Argentina.

Playa Mamita’s (“Mamita’s Beach”), close to the main street, is the place to be anytime of the day. Only a few minutes walking and you get to see paradise on earth. Palm trees, mild wind, sun in the sky and the beautiful sky-coloured Atlantic ocean washing the golden sand. You will also find many attractions suitable particularly to your taste, from water scooters to volleyball nets and pull up bar; or you can just take in sun. A strong sun protection is necessary since the sun in Mexico is very dangerous and makes you burn very fast. A few meters from the beach, you will find a variety of luxurious hotels, which will make sure that you stay entertained.

The nightlife in the resort has become one of the key factors in attracting tourists from all over the world. Lately, it has been often recognised as “The new Ibiza” for its wild lifestyle. The main action takes place in the 5th avenue. Usually, you will be asked to pay 10-20 pounds for entering the place and getting free bar — as much alcohol as you want until 3–4 a.m. Expect to see drunk people and loud music every night, all year round. High season is between July and October. The beach is also famous for its Bikini Contests. For those who do not like a busy touristic environment, there are many heavenly beautiful beaches which are quiet, and make you very relaxed.

BPM is one of the biggest electronic music festivals in the world, which takes place in Playa del Carmen every January. Here you can meet and listen to the best DJ’s such as David Guetta and Afrojack, who also perform in the resort throughout the year. La fiesta goes on for up to 10 days where you can go meet some people and dance on the beach, which is usually free, and go clubbing in the night, for which you will probably be asked to pay a little more than usual.

The environment in the city is another unique attraction for tourists. The temperature stays fairly high all year 800px-Playa_Del_Carmen_126round, even in winter; you can go to the beach and sunbathe without any problems. Local people are very hospitable and friendly, and most of the people speak English, just in case you do not know Spanish. The problem of the cartels seems to be better controlled as well. The area makes you feel safer than other cities and regions up in the north, thanks to the touristic and foreign influence. However, you should always watch your back, as you can never expect what happens in this beautiful country.

If you are planning on going to Playa del Carmen, forget all your jackets and sweaters — the place is simply too warm for that. Your only worry will be how to avoid getting burnt. Every person I’ve met admitted that it might be the best place in the universe. Welcome to paradise!
